Coalition of Women in Africa for Peace & Development is the flagship project of Engage, Empower Educate Initiative aimed at harnessing the enormous capacity and goodwill of women in Africa by bringing them under a coalition towards achieving 4 (four) thematic points, in line with the sustainable development goals; Peace in Africa, Girl-child education, ending hunger in Africa and Ending Poverty in Africa.
COWAP holds an annual event known as African Women Summit; that brings together a thriving community of women in politics, first ladies in Africa, visionaries and global experts, from different fields of human endeavor to share their stories, brainstorm on ideas and launch initiatives targeted at creating sustainable peace and development in Africa. The maiden edition of the African Women Summit was launched on the 21ST APRIL 2018 in Nigeria with Delegates from more than twenty-three (23) African countries numbering approximately one thousand six hundred and seventy (1670) attendees at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, Nigeria.
The 2nd edition of the African Women summit was held at Dubai’s Hilton Alhabatoor Hotel in the United Arab Emirate (UAE) from the 5th- to 6th August 2021 and in 2022, Kigali Rwanda (The Land of Thousand Hills) hosted the 3rd edition of the African Women Summit at Marriot Hotel Kigali from the 12th to 14th of May with over three hundred (300) delegates from eighteen (18) African countries.
